Tennessee Senator Announces Support For Senate Majority Leadership Candidate

Over the weekend, Senator Bill Hagerty announced on X he will support Senator Rick Scott of Florida for Senate Majority Leader during the vote scheduled for Wednesday of this week.

In May, Scott initially announced his candidacy for Majority Leader via a letter to his Senate colleagues wherein he outlined his intentions and priorities should he be elected. Scott advocated for a “dramatic sea change” and a need to “work closely with President Trump” and is currently promoting platforms including ending omnibus bills, term limits for the Leader, and quick confirmations of Trump appointees.

Scott has received endorsements from several members of Congress other prominent individuals including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., political commentator Tucker Carlson, X owner Elon Musk, athlete Riley Gaines, and businessman Vivek RamaswamyCPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) is also promoting Scott as a, “proven conservative who is the best choice to ensure President Trump’s America-First legislative agenda is secured in the United States Senate.”

Notably absent amongst those vocally supporting Scott’s bid is Tennessee’s other Senator, newly reelected Marsha Blackburn.
