During a two-week operation dubbed “Memphis Streets”, the U.S. Marshals Service of Memphis (USMS) announced its Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested 141 violent fugitives and cleared 163 arrest warrants.
USMS stated the operation was a “targeted initiative aimed at reducing gang-related violence” in the city, which yielded not just arrests, but the seizure of 5 weapons, the capture of 14 homicide suspects, and the apprehension of 67 assault offenders.
Additionally, 31 of the arrests were known or suspected gang members, 16 were sex-related crimes, and 16 were robberies.
