Two Tennessee House members anonymously told the Tennessee Conservative that strong objections were made by the true Christians in the House Republican caucus meeting regarding the approval of an openly transgender person delivering the prayer on the House floor.
However, according to the two representatives, Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville-District 25) pushed back stating that they could not discriminate and followed by giving his stamp of approval on Democrat Representative Aftyn Behn’s (D-Nashville-District 51) invite of Chaplain Dahron Johnson from the United Church of Christ in Nashville.
The Tennessee Holler reports that Johnson is the “first openly trans person to lead prayer on the Tennessee House floor.”
Can anyone tell me - specifically - who approves the clergyman that delivers the prayer on the TN House Floor?
