A former Hamilton County teacher accepted a plea deal Thursday, pleading guilty to aggravated statutory rape.
Casey McGrath, a former math teacher at Central High School, was arrested in August 2023 after being suspended earlier in the year following allegations that she was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student. McGrath had been employed by the school since 2020.
At the time, it was alleged that McGrath engaged in sexual activity with a minor between the ages of 13 and 18. It was also stated that McGrath was at least 10 years older than the victim at the time of the incident, which is said to have occurred on May 1, 2022.
According to the terms of the plea agreement, the judgment will not be placed on her record for four years. During that time period, McGrath will be required to join the sex offender registry and serve state supervised probation.
